Poet extraordinaire Jessica Care Moore has been working hard across multiple mediums of art over the last 20 years, but today, she’s revealed that she’s ready to release her debut studio album.
Partnering with Talib Kweli’s Javotti Media label, Care Moore’s album, titled Black Tea: The Legend Of Jessi James, will be a jazz/hip-hop/poetry fusion for the ages. The feature list includes the likes of Talib Kweli, One Belo, jazz greats Roy Ayers and Jose James, and fellow poet Ursula Rucker.
Kweli himself is ready for the world to hear Care Moore’s latest work: “I am excited to be able to work with jessica Care moore on her first album,” says Talib Kweli. “She has not just been one of my best friends for years; she’s been a friend to passionate artists worldwide. Her independent spirit, Detroit badassness and use of words are inspirational. She speaks to us and for us.”
The first two singles, “You Want Poems” and “This is A Bus with Wings,” are both available to listen to on SoundCloud, while the album itself sees release on Friday, October 2. Check out the two singles and the tracklist below.
