DeiLLe$t A1 & Ma$ter Glo Showcase The Sound Of New York’s Youth On “The HeatWave”

Chicago’s Drill music was thought to be the main influence on New York’s biggest hit as of late – Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Nigga” – and while there are other artists with a similar sound in the city, a couple artists are making their own way in the world.

DeiLLe$t A1 and Ma$ter Glo just dropped their new video for “The HeatWave,” and it’s indicative of how New York artists are scrambling out from under the oppressive history of their city’s boom bap past. Glo sets up the alley-oop on the first verse before DeiLLe$t speeds through a wild flow on the second. The freshness of their sound makes it hard to claim they’re indebted to anybody, old or new.

Play this shit for people who think NYC is lacking right now. It might wake them up.
