Chavis Chandler is one of our favorite young talents coming out of Detroit, and yesterday he released his brand new SANGFOME EP. He’s flexing his soulful side on the tape, doing a lot of singing over slow production, but there’s a crazy story behind how the tape came about.
He had his laptop stolen in New York, only to come home and find his Detroit home broken into and much of his studio equipment jacked as well. So he got up with an old friend, drove to the west side of Detroit, walked into a studio, and met a couple producers – B. Way and Charles Wilson – who ended up producing SANGFOME.
Above he tells that story, and below you can hear the EP. Our favorite is the short, sweet “Don’t Let Me Go.”
