Lupe Fiasco is teaming with a Google Waze investor Di-Ann Eisnor to bring a Shark Tank-style type of event to Brownsville, New York, one of the worst neighborhoods in the city.
On November 13, Eisnor, Lupe, and other judges will hear pitches from would-be Brownsville entrepreneurs about ways to innovate the city (Brownsville residents can apply here). At an informal meet and greet, Eisnor heard pitches like a subscription box service, a senior ride-share service, an on-demand beauty service, and more. The plan is to make one of these pitches into a $100 million company and then invest some of that money back into the neighborhood. They hope to be in roughly 12 neighborhoods by the end of next year. “Brownsville is just the beginning,” says Fiasco.
