Last year’s John Wick caught moviegoers by surprise with its densely packed, lived-in world and crazy action, and we’ve all been on the edge of our seats waiting for more. Now, not only are we getting a sequel with star Keanu Reeves and directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski returning, but rapper/actor/activist Common is coming on to play the central villain.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Chicago MC/actor will be playing the head of security for a female crime lord. Common’s been really busy in the movie world lately, with roles in Entourage, Run All Night, and the upcoming Barbershop 3 and Warner Bros/DC flick Suicide Squad; and he’s prepping for the NBC live musical rendition of The Wiz in December. Other actors, including Ian McShane, are also returning for the sequel.
Production on John Wick 2 starts this week.
