Rappers hate holidays, rappers hate bloggers and rappers especially hate bloggers on holidays. There is no other explanation for interrupting the gastric turn-up that is Turkey Day with a Thanksgiving mixtape release. Sure, now Lil Wayne, Fabolous, Rick Ross and more have provided the soundtrack to our Black Friday credit card karate sessions, but if they really cared about us they’d have dropped these on Wednesday so we could torture our old relatives with them between Instagram posts of our dinner plates.
But as we’ve established, they hate us. But they love the fans, so let us know if you’re thankful for these releases.
Lil Wayne, “No Ceilings 2”
On the follow-up to his 2009 highlight, Weezy once again goes jacking for beats over 24 tracks and mixes in some originals of his own.
Fabolous, “Summertime Shootout”
Fabolous let’s his clever couplets fly like hot metal on this mixtape prelude to his Young OG Project 2 coming on Christmas Day. He flips some familiar classics like LL’s “Doin It” with an assist from Nicki Minaj and new hits like The Weeknd’s “Tell Your Friends.”
Rick Ross, “The Renzel Remixes”
In advance of his December 4th release of “Black Market” Rick Ross serves up two platters at 13 tracks a piece on “The Renzel Remixes.” The Bawse puts his raspy finger prints on everything from Kanye West to Adele.
