Murs & 9th Wonder Return With Brighter Days

Back in November of 2012 Murs and 9th Wonder took us on what we believed to be their Final Adventure, the fifth project in their impressive collaborative run which began with 2004’s Murs: 3:16 The 9th Edition.  But in true hip-hop fashion, they have reversed their self-imposed retirement and gifted fans with what will most likely be the last album of 2015, Brighter Days.

Premiering today on Mass Appeal the 12-track album features appearances from Mac Miller, Problem, Rapsody, Bad Lucc, and more. While it’s been three years since their last collab, Murs and 9th’s chemistry is still in top form. No stranger to soul chops, 9th leans on his horns for “God Black/Black God” and “The Battle,” kicking the proceedings off with a Wu-Tang vibe. Things then shift into lustful territory on “Lover Murs” and “Get Naked” before pivoting to the more reflective “The Shutters” and “If This Should End.”

Also noteworthy is their cover of The Pharcyde’s “Otha Fish,” where lilting piano replaces the smokey horns of the original.
