Jay Electronica has yet to release Act II, or any album, since he first broke onto the scene with “Act 1: Eternal Sunshine” in 2007. But over the weekend, a Reddit user posted a Soundcloud link to an album called The Awakening by an artist called Je’Ri. Sure enough, the vocals are Jay Electronica, and the album cover features a blurred photo of him.
The project, released in 2000, is 15 tracks long and somewhat rough around the edges production-wise, though you can hear the Jay Elect that was to come in these rhymes. The only evidence of the project online is a review by HipHopGame from the same year which doesn’t call him Jay Electronica and lists the label that released the project as Boss and Family Records.
Mysterious? Certainly. But what else would you expect from the most elusive rapper in the world?
