California rapper Hopsin is arguably one of the genre’s most divisive provocateurs. Whether you love him or hate him, he’s developed a rabid and loyal fanbase ever since his Raw days. But Funk Volume, the label that he co-founded, may be on its way out for good.
Hopsin took to Facebook yesterday (January 6) to declare Funk Volume officially dead “thanks to the monster Damien Ritter.” He’s been calling out Ritter in a series of escalating Facebook posts since this past Saturday (January 2), claiming that he’s made a lot of money off of Hopsin’s music. “Having a crew like FV has been my vision since I was 14 years old and this man just destroyed it,” he said before promising a bright future ahead.
He and fellow FV artists Jarren Benton (who is allegedly helping Master P revamp No Limit Records), Dizzy Wright, Swizzz, and DJ Hoppa are all still friends, but it looks like they’ve gone their separate ways. If you’re a huge FV fan, don’t panic. Hopsin’s got a surprise for you:
“If you or anyone you know has a funk volume tattoo, please post it on my Facebook wall or tag me in it on Instagram. I got something real special for youguys. You won’t be ignored by me.”
