UPDATE: Big Kap’s road manager Ab Traxx told Billboard that he died from a heart attack early this morning (February 3). “Last night when I talked to him, he was fine. He was on the computer at 1 a.m. and then I got the phone call at 4 in the morning from the artist he stays with, Bank Boy Drop,” Traxx said. “He’s an artist based out of Florida we was actually workin’ on.” Map had just started working with Atlanta-based radio station Highly Unique Radio and was scheduled to start a 40-day tour with fellow Burn Unit artists today.
Yet another hip-hop legend gone before their time. Keith “Big Kap” Carter reportedly passed away in his sleep at the age of 45. The legendary DJ/producer worked with big names like Funkmaster Flex, Biggie, Mary J. Blige, Lil’ Jon & The Eastside Boyz, RZA, and more over the course of his career as he fashioned himself into one of the genre’s most unsung tastemakers.
