You read that right. Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos took the 50th annual NFL championship in their highly-anticipated game with Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. The win makes Manning the first quarterback to win the title on two different teams in league history, a nice potential retirement present for Eli’s brother.
Newton conveyed his disappointment with the game when he addressed reporters at a post-game press conference: “We got outplayed, bro…They just played better than us. I don’t know what you want me to say. They made better plays than us, and that’s what it came down to. We had our opportunities, it wasn’t anything special that we did.”
Newton abruptly left the conference shortly after. Regardless of whether or not he has Super Bowl bragging rights or not, he and the Panthers will get theirs soon enough.
