There are few producers in and out of Atlanta that can claim to have had the impact on music in general and hip-hop in particular than Organized Noize. The trio of Rico Wade, Ray Murray and Sleepy Brown were the sonic backbone of the Dungeon Family, the famed collective of artists that included Outkast, Goodie Mob, singer Joi and others. But they were also responsible for classics like TLC’s “Waterfalls” and the soundtrack to Set It Off, to name a few. Their lush, often sample-free compositions gave their songs a distinct texture and timeless feel that influenced a generation of producers, rappers and singers.
On March 22nd their long awaited documentary “The Art of Organized Noize” will premiere on Netflix and will tell the story of their rise to legendary status and the tribulations that came with that ascent. The recently released trailer features testimonials from L.A. Reid, Ludacris, Outkast, 2 Chainz, Future, Cee-Lo Green and more. Watch the trailer above.
