If any artist has been patiently waiting behind the wings for their moment, it’s Vic Mensa. The newly signed Roc Nation artist hasn’t been given a chance to shine since the Kanye West-featuring “U Mad” and the Skrillex-featuring “No Chill,” but during tonight’s Justice For Flint in Michigan, we got another taste of what he’s got.
Mensa just debuted the thumping new single “16 Shots” at the Flint event last night (February 28). Named after Laquan McDonald, a Chicago resident who was shot 16 times by Chi police in 2014, there’s fire and energy here that we haven’t heard from Mensa in a minute, so here’s hoping his debut album Traffic sees the light of day sooner rather than later.
