DJ Khaled, the new King of Snapchat and holder of “Major Keys” has announced that he and Jay Z have forged a new business relationship. In an accompanying video Khaled announces that Hov will be his new manager, which most likely refers to him signing with Roc Nation. In fact, the company’s Twitter posted a congratulatory message welcoming Khaled to the family.
Just the same, it appears that Jay is taking a very personal interest in Khaled, handing him what he says is his last Roc-A-Fella chain.
“This is my last one. This is the one I put in the corner. This is mine. I don’t own another one,” Jay says before handing it over to Khaled. The last time Jay Z handed out jewelry was in 2014 at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. After performing with Roc Nation signee Jay Electronica, Jay gave the “Exhibit C” rapper his 5 Percent Nation Chain. Jay Electronica passed this same chain to Rapsody earlier this year during J Dilla Weekend in Miami.
The “Chaining Day” in Roc-A-Fella was immortalized by one of its earliest recipients, Kanye West, in his video for “Through The Wire.”
