UPDATE: Aesop Rock has teamed up with Funny Or Die for a series of videos promoting The Impossible Kid. The first episode “Sorry I’m Late” sees Aes in a session with his animated bear therapist talking about his move from New York to Oregon and making beats in a farmhouse. Check it out below
Aesop Rock has been relatively quiet outside of group efforts with Hail Mary Mallon and Homeboy Sandman and scoring the upcoming movie Bushwick, but the NY rapper is finally gearing up to release his first album in four years.
The Impossible Kid, Rock’s first solo record since 2012’s Skelethon, is dropping on April 29th via Rhymesayers Entertainment, and the first single “Rings” is ready for listening. No features or production credits yet, but expect 15 tracks of tongue-twisting rhymes. Rock is handling all the production himself, with help from Philadelphia musician Grimace Federation. The only features on the album come from friends Homeboy Sandman and Open Mike Eagle on the bonus track “Syrup.”
