Noname’s debut mixtape Telefone might not be as dead as we thought. The Chicago MC/poet dropped another new single earlier today (April 4), the deeply groovy “Freedom Interlude.” Her sleepy yet dense rhymes over production from usual suspects Phoelix and Saba really is music for the soul. Check for the Nina Simone monologue at the end.
Noname (real name Fatimah Warner) has only had loose singles floating around the music world for years, but this new glut of singles could mean that Telefone is finally on the way. Formerly known as Noname Gypsy, she recently chopped the Gypsy off the end of her name after realizing how offensive it was to Romani people.
