Producers Of Jeremih’s “OUI” Want Artists To Be Nicer To Women

R&B singer Jeremih has been rewarded for his tenacity in the hit single “OUI.” Living by the old adage “the third times the charm” the third release from his 2015 album Late Nights has peaked at # 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and # 5 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart. The amorous production comes courtesy of production duo Needlz and Donut. Needlz is a Grammy Award winning musician who has produced tracks for everyone from 50 Cent (“Piggy Bank”) to Bruno Mars (“Just The Way You Are”) and partnered with Donut several years ago after selling him an old drum machine on Craigslist in 2008.

The two went on to produce records for Jersey MC Honors English and several more tracks for Jeremih.

In our exclusive interview Donut talks about his early beginnings in music working with Pharrell’s brother, how he came up with the piano elements in the song and the two plead with artists need to be nicer to women in their music.

“We’re keeping it true to music that gives you that feel. Just the love message, that’s the wave that we’re on,” says Donut. “There was one song where the rapper was body-slamming the girl and cussing her out. What’s going on? ” Needlz adds with a snicker. “My biggest records have been love songs.”
