Skepta is UK grime’s most powerful independent force whose latest project Konnichiwa has been blasting out of speakers since it dropped on Friday (May 6). Time Out London shared a rare interview with the Boy Better Know head on Friday that touched on a variety of subjects, including working with Pharrell (“With Pharrell, there is no ego. I was in the studio in my socks.”) and being an activist instead of a rapper.
Most surprising of all, Skepta confirmed what most thought was a far-fetched rumor: the fact that Drake is officially signed to BBK in some way, shape, or form. “We’re putting together an official worldwide BBK label,” he told Time Out. “But we haven’t talked about how it’ll work yet. It’ll be separate to his existing contracts. Trust me, I am not gonna sue Lil Wayne.”
There might be a butting of heads in the future, but for now, Drake and Skepta are further tightening their relationship. Check the rest of the interview where Skeppy talks switching from Gucci to sportswear and making a bad impression with Diddy here.
