Australian duo (formerly trio) The Avalanches have been dead silent since their debut album Since I Left You dropped back in 2000. Since I Left You is a beautiful collage of 3,500 samples that’s kept fans on the edge of their seats for the last decade and a half, but yesterday, they spoke up in a big way.
Not only did they officially announce their second album Wildflower during an interview with Zane Lowe, they dropped their first new song in *16 years* featuring Danny Brown and MF Doom. That’s right – three of independent music’s most reluctant artists all hopped on a song together that’s straight fire.
“Frankie Sinatra” is a carnival ride of a track, bouncing horns and wailing vocal sample creating an eerie pocket amplified by the batshit insane music video. You might never look at lemonade the same way again.
Wildflower drops July 8 via XL Recordings in the states and also features Camp Lo, Biz Markie, Father John Misty, Toro y Moi, and many more. Peep the video above.
