In an interview with The Breakfast Club, the Chicago rapper touched on “16 Shots,” being a target, depression, and working with Respect My Vote.
One of the most controversial tracks off of his latest project, There’s Alot Going On, is titled “16 shots.” The track was inspired by the death of Laquan McDonald— a Chicago teen who was murdered by a police officer. In response to the shooting, Vic teamed up with Respect My Vote to encourage the youth and his community to vote.
“I put it out with Respect My Vote. Where it’s like, you pledge to vote to download the music for free. Basically, that’s just putting your word on it. Saying that, I’m going to use the power that I have to make a change in the place that I live.”
