Alicia Keys Pays Homage to Prince with “How Come You Don’t Call Me” Live Performance

Back in April, Alicia Keys recalled her experience asking Prince for permission to use the song, “How Come You Don’t Call Me” for her album. During her Tribeca Film Festival performance, Keys remembers a phone call with Prince.

“He was like, ‘You know I never let anybody do my songs, right?’” the Girl in A Minor singer said. “I was like, ‘I heard that before.’ He was like, ‘But I’ve been watching you. I’ve been seeing what you’re doing and I’d love for you to do my song.’” That important phone call blossomed into a friendship between Prince and Alicia.
