Kemba (fka YC The Cynic) “Already” Knows The Name Of The Game

Kemba Already

UPDATE: ‘Negus’ is fast approaching, so Kemba’s got yet another single for hungry listeners. “Already” is more brain food produced by cohort Frank Drake that you should definitely peep below.

Bronx emcee Kemba officially said goodbye to the name YC The Cynic earlier this year with his Farewell Tapea compilation of unreleased and rare material that further proves his skills as a thinking man’s rapper. He’s ready to drop his debut album under a new name, and what better way to start than with a shiny new single?

“The New Black Theory” is both critique of police brutality and cultural appropriation and a call of unity for Black people set to warbling synths and a ghostly vocal sample from Tupac’s “Dear Mama” (“And even though they sold drugs/They showed a young brotha love”). What else would you expect from the new-age Raven Symone cover art with steam coming out of her eyes?

Kemba’s album Negus drops in July. Peep the single, produced by Frank Drake, below.
