Founders Entertainment, the company behind New York’s Governors Ball, announced this morning (June 21) that they’re hosting a second festival called The Meadows. The lineup is eclectic, ranging from The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper, and Mac Miller to Grimes, Chromeo, and Cage The Elephant, among tons of others.
As if Kanye West coming back to New York with his Saint Pablo tour wasn’t enough, festival goers will get the Kanye headlining performance they were denied at the rained-out last day of this year’s Governors Ball. Even given the talent involved, it’s hard to tell what makes The Meadows different from Gov Ball, but Founders took the time to explain that “the time of year, the venue, and the talent” will differentiate them.
Taking place in the heart of the Fall season, the Meadows is a festival experience that stands out from other entertainment offerings around New York City,” the site’s description continues. “While amphitheater shows winding down and summer festivals in the rear view mirror, the Fall is the last time New Yorkers will be able to enjoy the many offerings of an outdoor festival before Winter comes and changes how we all socialize and enjoy entertainment.”
If New York City gets any more festivals this year, it might just sink under all the pressure. Either way, tickets go on sale this Thursday (June 23).
