Check Xzibit & Bishop Lamont’s Technique On “Back Up Off Me”

While real life battles between rappers in 2016 can be hit or miss, West Coast G’s Bishop Lamont and Xzibit offer up a fictional one that is pretty entertaining in the clip to “Back Up Off Me.”

Bishop Lamont is the Carson, Cali lyricist formerly signed to Aftermath records.  He and X to the Z go  toe-to-toe in a darkened but crowded arena over a neck-snapping score provided by our homie King Karnov with Chriz Noxx and the legend Focus… on the help out. The track also touches a few nostalgic points for me as I first heard the drums on Gang Starr’s “Check The Technique,” from their 1991 album Step In The Arena.

The guts of both cuts come from Marlena Shaw’s “California Soul,” which is a cover of the The 5th Dimension record written by Ashford & Simpson. #TheMoreYouKnow

“Back Up Off Me” is from Bishop Lamont’s anticipated album “THE REFORMATION” set to release SUMMER of 2016!
