Jay Z didn’t make good on his promise of keeping Memphis Bleek from going broke.
Bossip reports that the Roc-A Fella protege filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy back on March 14 in a federal court in New Jersey. His assets – including clothing, he and his wife’s wedding rings, a Chevy Impala, and his New Jersey home – are worth $274,000, but his debts for his home ($335,000), his car ($24,000), the IRS ($9,000), and Monmouth County Superior Court ($13,000) far exceed those. He even claims that he only has $100 in cash to his name and that his business Get Low Touring is worthless.
Bleek hasn’t dropped a record, much less a hit, in a little over a decade, so even Jay’s lofty promise was only able to take him so far. He admitted on The Breakfast Club that Jay Z doesn’t pay his bills and Bossip’s documents show that after his bills, he’s only bringing in about $534 and change a month.
Here’s hoping that The Process comes sooner rather than later.
