New Music Friday: Clams Casino, A-F-R-O & Marco Polo, Cousin Stizz, & More

New Music Friday Clams AFRO Stizz

The music gods have dumped a whole pile of new jams on us this week. Check out the offerings below:

Clams Casino – 32 Levels

For a time, New Jersey-based producer Clams Casino was at the forefront of cloud rap’s hazy aesthetic. With his debut major label album 32 Levels, he’s flexing his prowess a little bit with a healthy mix of production styles all grounded in his trademark atmosphere. Guest vocals from Vince Staples, A$AP Rocky, and the ever-elusive Lil B help this project reach another level.

Marco Polo & A-F-R-O – A-F-R-O Polo EP

At the tender age of 18, A-F-R-O is already a technical force to be reckoned with. Collaborating with a producer the likes of Marco Polo over 6 tracks is enough to make purists’ heads explode, and that’s exactly what the duo aims for on the A-F-R-O Polo EP. Aside from the blunt misogyny of “Sunshine And Flowers,” there’s a lot for fans of head-spinning lyrical powers to chew on.

21 Savage & Metro Boomin – Savage Mode

We knew 21 Savage would be a big deal a while back, but his induction in this year’s XXL Freshman Class and his shiny new EP with Metro Boomin is proof positive that the world’s officially on board.

Z-Ro – Drankin’ & Drivin’

Yes, The Mo’ City Don is back with some new heat. Z-Ro’s latest continues the tradition that the Houston legend started almost 20 years ago.

Abra – PRINCESS

Abra’s serene brand of R&B has made her a lead fixture within the confines of Atlanta-based mavericks Awful Records. Her new EP PRINCESS further mixes synth pop in with the R&B to create a hazy melancholic dance atmosphere similar to Blood Orange’s Freetown Sound from earlier this month.

deM atlaS – mF deM

deM atlaS Minnesota emcee deM atlaS’ elastic voice conversational and confessional bars are a natural fit over at Rhymesayers. Today, he’s taken to some of MF Doom’s best beats for a spin around the block on the mF deM project, a 13-track ride as somber as it is funky.

Shy Glizzy – Young Jefe 2

Has it really been two years since Shy Glizzy’s Young Jefe? The D.C. native dropped the followup to one of his most successful projects earlier today, so

Sadat X – Agua

One-fourth of Brand Nubian is showing his face once again for a new record. Agua is the storied emcee’s 12th record, another testament to his skills behind the mic bolstered by an all-star production (Pete Rock, Diamond D) and guest (R.A. The Rugged Man, Dres, A-F-R-O) team.

Kembe X – Talk Back

Chicago truly doesn’t know how to keep quiet. After two mixtapes and recent rumors that he was signing to TDE, Kembe X has 14 tracks of raw Chi newness for your weekend.

Cousin Stizz – MONDA

Cousin Stizz is back on the scene with his sophomore project and it genuinely feels like he never left. The Boston-area spitter has built some clout with a hefty tour schedule and links with other Beantown elite like Michael Christmas and Dutch ReBelle, and you can peep the juicy fruits of those labors below.

Blu & Nottz – Titans in the Flesh

Blu & Nottz were a match made in hip-hop heaven when they dropped their debut EP Gods in the Flesh back in 2013. We may not have a full-length just yet, but the duo have undoubtedly evolved on their latest, aptly titled Titans in the Flesh. Any one song where Blu, Bishop Lamont, Torae, & Skyzoo  can wile out over Nottz production is worth the price of admission alone, and the six other tracks on Titans are no exception.
