Lil B is as beloved as enigmatic as rappers come these days, but he’s still got nothing on Frank Ocean. During an interview with Dazed Magazine while at a Finland music festival, The Based God himself talked about feminism, the Based philosophy, and working with Ocean on his highly anticipated joint Boys Don’t Cry. Yes, Lil B is apparently a feature on Boys Don’t Cry.
“He called me to come out and do some stuff for his album, Boys Don’t Cry, that’s coming out,” he explained. “Frank is amazing. He’s a beautiful man with a beautiful voice.” Even though he’s worked with Ocean, Lil B doesn’t want anyone to hold their breath. “If Frank releases. Let’s see what Frank releases. Frank has the material.”
Just under two weeks ago, a New York Times rumor spread that Ocean would finally drop the album, his followup to 2012’s Channel Orange, on August 5. A subsequent Apple Music stream of Ocean cutting wood fanned the flames even further. We’re still waiting, but news of Lil B being on the album is good enough to keep the world on pins and needles.
