Two of Atlanta hip-hop’s luminaries might be joining forces to work together again. In 20th anniversary of Outkast’s ATLiens with Spin Magazine, Big Boi revealed that he and Killer Mike might have a joint EP coming in the future. “We’ve been entertaining the idea for a long time and finally got enough songs to where we just said the other night that we’re gonna do it,” he told Spin, also mentioning that the project would come after his next solo album, which is “halfway done.”
The two have been collaborating for the last decade and a half, but their relationship wasn’t always sunny. Their “brotherhood,” as Mike calls it, ran into some problems back in 2006 when Mike was signed to Big Boi’s Purple Ribbon label and their business relationship went south. It took two years, but they patched things up and now we can expect a full-blown project from the two. Hip-hop music truly strengthens the ties that bind.
