The Best Moments from BET’s Hip-Hop Awards

Hosted by DJ Khaled, the 2016 Bet Hip Hop Awards aired last night. With performances from Gucci Mane, Travis $cott, Isaiah Rashad, honoree Snoop Dogg,  and featured a tribute to Shawty Lo. The Atlanta based award show was filled with a few great moments for Hip-Hop. Take a look at some of our favorite moments below:

Gucci Mane opens the show with Travis $cott, Quavo and Young Thug:

Fresh out the Feds, Gucci Mane is having the time of his life. Decked out in a floor length mink, Wop performed “First Day Out The Feds,”  and was later joined by Travis $cott for “Last Time.” From there, Travis took over and performed “Pick Up The Phone” with Quavo and Thugger.

Big K.R.I.T.’s “Might Not Be Okay” verse:

K.R.I.T. teamed up with Kenneth Whallum earlier last month for the politically charged track, “Might Not Be Okay.” Last night, the 30-year old rapper performed his powerful verse acapella in a police uniform.

Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Isaiah Rashad Performance:

Philly’s Lil Uzi performed “Money Longer” while 21 Savage gave a chill performance of “X” with a live band. The Son’s Tirade, Isaiah Rashad also gave a dope performance of “Park.”

T.I. Performance

T.I. also gave an empowering performance of “We Will Not” last night from his recent mixtape, Us or Else. The Atlanta rapper rocked an all-black outfit with a black beret in honor of the Black Panther Party before bringing out a group of protestors who held signs reading “Fight the power,” “We will not,” and “Us or else.”

Snoop Dogg receives the “I Am Hip Hop” Award:

“Y’all know I ain’t really one to be sentimental or whatnot, but this is real sentimental right now for me to see all of my peers, all of my people in hip-hop give me the respect I didn’t strive for,” Snoop said in his heart felt speech. “I just strived to make music and to make people feel good and get [out] my expression.”
