2Pac Might Make The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame & Piss Off Gene Simmons

2Pac Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

As if N.W.A.’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame last year wasn’t big enough, the potential list for next year’s ceremony is lofty. Names that have deserved glory for years like Chaka Khan, Janet Jackson, Chic, and Bad Brains are nice to see on the list, but my eyes froze when I saw 2Pac‘s name on the list. One of rap’s greatest and most misunderstood figures with his own spot in the Hall of Fame? Rap fans aren’t exactly looking for the HOF’s approval, but it’s a nice touch.

Other huge figures, including Yes, Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode, and others is a good sign, but just imagine the look on KISS lead singer Gene Simmons‘ face when he sees the inevitable tribute to Pac’s “California Love” or Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation” that follows their respective inductions. All we can do at this point is hope that at least one of the songs is played by Chic.

Pac is on next year’s shortlist with other legends like Kraftwerk, Janet Jackson, and Jane’s Addicton. Check out the rest of the nominees below.
