Shad Moss Bow Wow’s supposed retirement coming up after the release of his “final” album Underrated, hearing news of a joint album from the two called Ignorant Shit strikes me as…too little too late?
Think about it. More of us are talking about Bow Wow’s on-air interview mishaps than his last commercial album (2009’s New Jack City 2) and “mixtape” (2013’s Greenlight 5), and while Soulja Boy’s mixtape turnout has been at Gucci Mane levels this year (he’s dropped six projects since January) and his influence on the likes of Lils B and Yachty is undeniable, he’s lost the omnipresence that helped songs like “Crank Dat” and “Turn My Swag On” ear worm their way into hearts the world over.
In an era where sensations come and go in a matter of hours, do people still care what Soulja Boy and Bow Wow have to say? We’re out here in enough numbers to line their pockets for a tour with all the oldies, but for new material? I’m not so sure. Only time will tell, but what do you think?
