California rap staple Murs blew everyone’s minds earlier this month when he broke the Guinness World Record for longest rap session. The veteran emcee took 5-minute breaks every hour but managed to spit just over 24 hours of rap karaoke from across decades. If you do the math, he rapped for just over 24 hours, and not even a month later, Spanish rapper Arkano has already taken a stab at that record.
Mass Appeal reported that this past week (October 28), the 22-year-old emcee upped the ante during a Red Bull event that took place in Madrid. Seated in a crystal box in front of 24,000 people at the Puerto del Sol de Madrid, Arkano *freestyled* for 24 hours, 34 minutes, and 27 seconds. That’s right; the kid went off the dome for over a day, also beating Chiddy Bang’s previously set 9-hour freestyle record. To help ease the pressure, he used the hashtag #RETOARKANO24H to crowdsource inspiration from fans, taking breaks for no more than 3 seconds at a time. All due respect to Murs, but this kid is superhuman.
Freestyling is in Arkano’s blood at this point. He won Red Bull’s Spanish freestyle competition Batalla de los Gallos at the tender age of 15 and will be competing again next month. For now, you can watch a recap of this madness below:
